revealing america's ignorance concerning faiths'

i understand to a degree the lack of understanding of the beliefs of
"the other"

i was amazed (yet i should not be) at the lack of understanding of ones' own:

to expound:

i overheard part of a conversation between 2 kids at work (play?)

she exited to assist a guest-i asked him
"are you a christian"

"no", he said- "i am a roman catholic"

"you don't say"

soon-she returned...

"are you and your family religious?"

she laughed-"no no we are catholic"

"how many sacraments have you received?"

"3-baptism-holy communion and confirmation"

"is holy communion the body of christ?"

"no- a symbol"

"do you believe in birth-control and freedom of choice?"

"yes"

"do you attend church"

"not anymore"

"is the pope catholic?"

"i am not sure"

"what are you?" she asked

"mystified"


"isn't that one of them eastern religions?"
