THIS WEEK IN BASEBALL
the "great mariano rivera" (as jon miller would say) became just the 15th pitcher to appear in 1000 regular
season games and the 1st and only to do it with 1 team. Go Mo!
in the same game jojo reyes joined matt keough with the dubious distinction of making 28 consecutive starts
with out a victory. he can set the record next week. (hey, you gotta be pretty good or they wouldn't keep sending
you to the hill.
later that night, wilson valdez came in from 2nd base to pitch in the 19th inning and got the win.
how about that...
vin mazzaro gave up 14 runs in 1 1/3 innings-he was demoted before he got out of the shower.
reminds me of chase wright who gave up 4 consecutive home runs to the red sox. you could say
they chased him right back to the bush leagues...never to be heard from again.
armando gallaraga ( he of the imperfect perfect game) was designated for assignment.

we have a young lady with, i assume, pituitary problems
her coach appears sporadically...
(do not think it is an emotional issue-for this young lady is so socially engaging)
maybe it's a front (most of us have worn a mask from time to time)
and then we have the "mentally impaired"
