TALK ABOUT CUTS...

mr. bloomberg cut 6,000 teachers from ny city schools.

i do not know the details, but i hope and expect that it was not based on last in 1st out.

good for him.

the skeptic: this will mean larger class size.

so what? give me statistical evidence

(lies, damn lies and statistics-sam clemens)

that class size matters.

i went thru my old scrapbook that Dar-Ma was so considerate to create for each of her children...

2nd grade-sister mary christopher

&

37 students

(with only fr. carow as an aide-{he appeared to hand out report cards-or deliver sermons on sundays)

we turned out all right (the kids are alright-mr townsend)

separation of the genders in the learning experience seem far more appropriate...

(if you want to quote the most recent statistical analysis)

but do not expect the government to lead on this one.

we need to 1st stop tying school revenues to property tax...

if every kid deserves a quality education-then every kid should carry a voucher

and privatize the system.

school a. says-send your child to us and we will accept the voucher.

school b. says give us $'s and the voucher and we will teach your child.

school c. says-give us the voucher and we will refund you X $'s for clothes and school supplies.

no more "unfunded pensions"

no more property tax funding the school system

(long island, alone, has 120 separate school administrations)

talk aboot' absurd.

we do not give huge tax breaks to supermarkets to keep prices low so that poor people can eat-

we give them food stamps.

we do not give huge tax breaks to health care providers to keep medical costs low

we have medicaid and medicare

(we can argue the merits of these programs on another posting)

yet-in our educational system

we ignore the end user and think centralized planning is appropriate

that is so lenin.

let me get to my original reason for this posting...

i only know what i can see...(we covet what we see)

at my job-we have a various individuals with "problems" that "require" intervention.

in one department a highly functional deaf, mute(whom has been working there longer than moi)

is visited by a job coach 5-6 times a year.

in the "bagging department"

we have a young lady with, i assume, pituitary problems

her coach appears sporadically...

(do not think it is an emotional issue-for this young lady is so socially engaging)

maybe it's a front (most of us have worn a mask from time to time)

and then we have the "mentally impaired"

1 rocks worse than leo mazzone-the other plays brittany spears on his c.d. every chance he gets and makes weird noises to the beats

(oh but for the grace of god, there go i)

their job coaches sit in our cafe-all day

mon-fri

texting-eating

dozing...

same two coaches for about 2 years now.

i had to ask...eventually

who pays you?

the supermarket gets a targeted jobs tax credit

(basically -these impaired people are paid below minimum wage

and the company is reimbursed 50% by the government.

the coaches?

you and i pay them thru taxes...(health & human services)

PS : never mind the cost of their "group" homes and door to door bus service

do not get me wrong- we have to show compassion

(social safety nets)

not fund often useless and needless "coaches"

most are public leeches...

PSS: while 9 + %

sit at home and collect,,,

week after incessant week.

go bag groceries and pay 1/2 unemployment

it's called compromise...

these are the best of times, these are the worst of times (charles dickens)

PSS: if 9 % of the adult working population dropped dead

we would be back to square...

PS: and where are the parents of these children.

playing "pontius pilate"

i wash my hands...

{you sired and incubated}

so the rest of us can be "helping hands?"

PSS:kant we each choose when to raise our hand?

there is nothing wrong with a liberal that a few years wont cure

(winnie the p.m.)
