CHRYSALIS

The birth experience must be awful for the homo sapien-
(and i am not even addressing, here, the mothers' ordeal)

we came into this world-
a-screaming & a-kicking
(usually right after a slap on the bottom from dr. Obstrict)

((right from the start-someone hits you))
{no wonder we war-over and over-ad nauseum}
((we're born and shivering-spat out on new terrain-
day 1 day 1 i'm almost pseudo making sense-alanis))

yet i digress
(((i must confess-i like to digress-kind of like the actor's aside-it's where i reside)))

Back to no point...

we came in cryin' because we angst from where we just left

zero-gravity
(floating in the amniotic sac)
perfect temp
(8-98 pt. 6)
automatically nutriated
((it's the perfect world!))

and then...

we were squeezed thru a small canal with an even smaller opening (exiting?)

((almost like a black hole and the event horizon)

we hit the bed-
covered in mucous and with something that looks as tho' someone has bled

we cry:
"it's fucking cold out here"
"gravity is heavy-it weighs"
"we need to be fed"

oh, and the tempo has changed
the beat (always persistent in the womb)
is gone- gone
we cannot find the rhythm in all this
bright light
white noise

clean us up
wrap us up
give us comfort
give us warmth

a mothers' arms
now,
a back-beat

welcome to your life...
