As a Dad, you are a vice-president. You are part of the executive branch of the family, but in your children's eyes, you mostly fulfill a ceremonial role of attending pageants and ordering pizza.
Your wife is bill clinton, and you are al gore. she "feels their pain" and you are the dork reminding them to turn off the lights. Being president mom is outside your pay grade or skill set. You can't breast feed, and don't know how to braid hair anyway. That's when you realize you not only have no idea what you are doing, you have become the"God help us if something happens to the president" vice president.
