randy newman composed the score to "The Natural" and "Ragtime"
yet most folks know him as the guy who wrote "Short People"
i said to randy-i love how you took lyrics and a catchy tune to point out the
existential cruelty of man's inhumanity to man.
that is what the song is about, right?
he pulled his glasses to the end of his nose, looked out a moment and said-no, it's about short people.
as ralph waldo emerson said-to be great is to be misunderstood.
